So in a similar vein, the main generator techs you'll want are the power and efficiency ones.
Then you can research only those techs to make them better. Just pick one depending on which is more abundant for you between steam cores and people. For example, in A New Home there's no random disasters that'll shut down your thumpers or coal mines, so you don't need to diversify. This is especially important to keeping your generator fuelled during the storm.Īlso, when doing tech in your workshop, be careful not to waste techs. Even at the starting 60% efficiency, they get you more resources than people due to working 24/7 all the time, and of course don't care about the cold. Eventually, you'll start outputting automatons, who'll be able to replace your workforce. Wall Drills and Coal Mines output more wood and coal with less people too. Steam Cores for infirmaries can be a life saver. If you only build one outpost, you want to find Tesla City ASAP and build the outpost there. Get a Workshop going ASAP and get the survivors who were left behind (more hands is more resources to build stuff and get resources) and then eventually, you'll want to scout around to scavenge resources. You'll get most of the wood and steel back, but the tiny bit you lose is very much worth the gains you get in time and people. Plus, Gathering Posts use less people while getting more resources. They're warmer than working the piles, so you'll get less sick people early on, letting you build your early city faster. On the New Home scenario, for your early game you want to make sure you use Gathering Posts. In Endless Mode for example, I've played through all 3 available modes, and found that if I survived the first storm, the rest were trivial unless I had some crippling random event. How you do in the early game can decide how you do later in the game. There's a large snowball effect in Frostpunk. I don't wanna be a dictator wasn't pleasant. I've been slamming my head again the game for hours and hours and sometimes my strategy is LITERAL perfection till I realize "fuck I don't have enough people and my generator is gonna monch my coal" Now I'm trying to do it in a nice and moral way.and I just do not have enough medic posts, and I CAN'T get enough people and my automatons are just taking too long to build and the heat from the generator upgrades makes it IMPOSSIBLE for me to get enough coal. 16 people left, didn't try fix anything or touch anything, and I won. The last 200 people are quickly dying off.but I killing everyone who has high discontent, and I just leave the generator off.and I made it through the storm. I just went "well, I'm dead" i turned off the generator and just waited for my end.

So long story short, I went full fascist cause it was the first time I got that far (I NEED SO MANY MEDIC STATIONS FUCK) and I didn't wanna run outta hope, do I see my coal is running low, I play the scenario out and then I hear boss level music and see the storm.
